The Medical Office Administration Diploma is an accelerated, full-time program of 840 total hours, completed in approximately six months. It prepares you to run the administrative side of a healthcare practice: patient intake and scheduling, medical records, billing and insurance, transcription and clinical office procedures in doctors’ offices, clinics, specialist practices, hospitals and other medical settings.
The program concludes with a 160-hour practicum placement, roughly one month of supervised workplace experience, so you graduate with both a diploma and time already spent inside a real healthcare office.
At Canadian Ultrasound Institute, courses are taught by experienced instructors and combine online classroom instruction with hands-on training. Coursework is delivered online, while practical skills training takes place in person at our Mississauga campus.
Our small-cohort model means instructors know every student by name, and start dates are available throughout the year. Practical training is held at our Mississauga campus at 10 Kingsbridge Garden Circle, minutes from Highways 401 and 403, with free on-site parking.

We arrange the placement for you and every student is placed in an active healthcare environment for a supervised 160-hour practicum, working alongside practicing professionals and gaining hands-on experience with reception, scheduling, medical records, billing, and patient communication.
The practicum is completed within the six-month program, so you graduate with both a diploma and practical experience in a working medical office.
The diploma is an accelerated, full-time program of 840 total hours: nine graded courses plus a supervised 160-hour practicum placement, completed in approximately six months. The comprehensive curriculum covers healthcare administration end to end, from medical terminology and patient scheduling through to medical billing, insurance verification and electronic health records.
Instruction includes 347 hours of classroom delivery and 175 hours of computer-based work. Lab and practicum includes 158 hours of on-campus practical training and the 160-hour practicum placement.

Yes. The diploma includes a 160-hour practicum placement, approximately one month of workplace experience. The practicum is included within the approximately 6-month program duration. The school arranges the placement for you, every student is placed with a healthcare host site, so you do not need to find one yourself.

Graduates may pursue roles such as Medical Office Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Medical Secretary, and other healthcare administrative positions in clinics, doctors’ offices, hospitals, and other medical settings.
Career outlook: The Government of Canada Job Bank currently rates the employment outlook for Medical Administrative Assistants in Ontario as “Very good” for 2025–2027.
